Summary

Samtel
Problem:
Their 14 inch colour monitors send back a lethally high voltage (60 to 70 volts) to the computer thru the video connector. This can damage your video card and motherboard.
User Supplied Details
Other details:
  • The image jumps and takes a few moments to stabilize whenever the video mode is changed. According to the Samtel people (Mr. Dubey, Okhla, New Delhi) this is a design limitation.
  • Whenever the monitor goes into stand-by mode (power saving mode) it switches off with a loud snap, indicating a bad SMPS design. Further there is no way of determinig whether the monitor is in standby mode or switched off, as there is no indication.
  • The logic or main card used in the monitors are sourced from LITE-ON, Malaysia. Even the picture tube is supposedly sourced externally.
Motorola Modem
